Terror at the Boston Marathon: prayer for all involved

It has been very difficult to concentrate on my studies as the pictures and videos from Boston have emerged this afternoon.  With a feeling of helplessness, all I can do, besides watch in horror, is to pray.

And so, with charity and mercy...

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.

V. Our help is in the Name of the Lord.
R. Who made heaven and earth.

Ant. The waves of death rose about me;
the pains of the netherworld surrounded me.
In my anguish I called to the Lord,
and from his holy temple he heard my voice (Ps. 18:5-7).

V. Lord, have mercy.
R. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Our Father... (and the rest silently, until:)

V. And lead us not into temptation.
R. But deliver us from evil.

Let us pray.

O God, merciful and strong, who crush wars and cast down the proud, be pleased to banish violence swiftly from our midst and to wipe away all tears, so that we may all truly deserve to be called your children. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. R. Amen.

May the all-powerful Lord bless + us,
protect us from all evil,
and lead us to everlasting life.
R. Amen.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.
